The following is Mr. Beavers' philosophy on education and his role in the field.
Success occurs when preparation meets opportunity. As educators, it is our duty to prepare those who have taken the opportunity to better themselves. I have a love for learning which I feel is essential to this profession. We shouldn’t ever think we are too big to learn, regardless of education, social status, or material wealth. We all can and should learn from one another.
Barbering has been and still is one of my passions for over 22 years. As an instructor for the past 8 years, my appreciation for this craft grows continually.

At the time she entered the field of cosmetology, her hometown of PGH was considered a small city east of Cleveland and was therefore not on the cutting edge of styles due to the popularity of the Jheri Curl. Ms. Black considers herself very fortunate to have started her career in a salon that put education first. She learned precision cutting which naturally brought out her creativity when it came to styling and led to her understanding of how powerful knowledge really is in this business. This experience led her to do platform work at the age of 23, conduct classes at major trade shows and eventually salon management. In salon management she learned valuable lessons which prepared her when she decided to open her own salon.

It is fascinating to know that your passion for this industry truly begins with amateur experiences like these. Making the decision to further my education in this industry has been exciting, well-worth it, and a blessing in my life."
